1Musica Viva

Musica Viva provides a performance place for musicians to play before an audience of performers and listeners of mainly classical music. Youth performers have had a scholarship to aim for annually for which the Rotary Club has provided $1500.00 to be divided between piano, instrumental and vocal.

This year the scholarship will take place Saturday, 28th September for auditions with the final concert on Monday 14th October 2019 at 7.00pm in the Evelyn Rawlins Room at Square Edge.
2National Science & Technology Forum

The Rotary Science Forum is a two week science programme held annually in January for year 12 students who are about to enter their final year at College.

The programme is designed for outstanding students who are planning to further their studies at University in a science field.

The programme is run by three Universities in the Auckland area. Accommodation is provided at tertiary Halls of Residence in the city.

The objective of the programme is to allow students to gain insights into the broad set of science options that are available to tertiary students from psychology to quantum physics to zoology. The programme of activities involves hand-on science lab work, lectures from University staff, and visits to businesses in the Auckland area that are engaged in science and research.

Over the past 5 years Rotary have sponsored one student who has gone on to become Dux Academia of Palmerston North Boys_ High, and another student who, through the Forum, won a scholarship to attend the London International Youth Science Forum.

The Rotary Science Forum has attracted outstanding applications and will continue to be supported by the Palmerston North Rotary Club.
3NZ Business Week - Brave Thinkers

NZBW is a week-long event designed for Year 12 and 13 students who are interested in furthering their studies at University in the area of business, finance, accounting and marketing.

Students from all over NZ spend a week in the July school holidays boarding at Palmerston North Boys_ High School during the programme.

The programme involves working in small groups on business development and marketing projects. Each student in the group has a role to play in the overall development of the business, from Marketing Manager, to Production Manager, to CEO.

The week culminates in a business Trade Fair where invited business mentors choose the winning business team.

Other high lights of the week include lectures at Massey in Palmerston North on business subjects, and visits to a number of businesses in the Manawatu area.

Palmerston North Rotary Club has sponsored a student for each year of NZBW for the past 7 or 8 years. Each year the sponsorship recipient has been able to come and talk to our Club about some of the key things that he or she has learnt or enjoyed thought NZBW.

5RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership Programme

Leadership training opportunity for young people.

The Rotary Club of Palmerston North is inviting applications for sponsorship of an individual to the District 9940 RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) 2020 Programme.

It`s open to people between the ages of 18 and 24 inclusive as at 22 January 2020.

The RYLA programme will challenge participants mentally and physically with a wide variety of subjects and activities planned over a five-day period during January 2020.
